Grace like Rain

April 25, 2010

Pastor Frank Chan, gave a really powerful message today. It was about getting by with God’s minimum.

7To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me ~ 2 Corinthians 12:7-9

Sometimes when you have a thorn in the flesh like Paul, no matter how much you fast, pray, or beg, God won’t remove the thorn. Be it a physical aliment or an emotional one, it’s something everyone goes through and when that happens, you wonder, where the heck is God’s grace? In those dark times, you his awesome power isn’t in the big showy miracles, but little things like thanking God for getting up in the morning, or being able to pass a test. Through small prayers, his grace is sufficient because his power is made perfect in weakness.
