Father’s Heart

August 8, 2009

i went with my church today to father’s heart.

The Father’s Heart Ministries is a faith-based 501(c)3 not-for-profit ministry created to demonstrate God’s love through practical expressions of compassion. Through a unique blend of programs, practical training and classroom instruction we are addressing the special needs of the elderly, the working poor, the unemployed, at-risk youth, immigrants and those without social or family support. Our programs include hunger prevention, food stamps access, gang-prevention/youth development, parenting and anger management classes, ESL classes and Alphabet Scoop, our job training/mentoring program for teens. Our goal is to empower individuals to become self-sufficient, to see families healed and restored and to see them move from dependency to dignity; from poverty to prosperity.

i was on the ministering team where i didn’t actually serve food or cleaned up, but walked around and talked and prayed with the people there who are hurt. Some stories were really touching but it was really heart to pray for the chinese elderly because my chinese sucks. I need to brush up my skills a bit.

But, i met this one guy whose story really touched me about him having a lovely with and daughter but lost them when he started doing drugs and having an affair. He just kept going back to it and he said God’s been showing him that path is a dead end because he stopped for a while and his life got better but its so easy for fall into temptation and worst things happened to him. He’s a well educated man with a steady background. I hope that God will continue to work in his life. I asked him for a business card. He runs a landscaping company and is trying to get back on his feet. It couldn’t hurt to put his contacts up.
